Just Like in College

From the archives:

Today's status message is left as an exercise to the reader.

Explanation: I was really excited about this status message back when I came up with it. Man, was I sick of reading something in college, only to find that its proof was left as an exercise for the reader. It was never like "1/2 is a rational number" either. Oh no. It was like "Given two identical jelly donuts, a red hankerchief, and a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle, clearly there is a God."

Also, leaving today's status as an exercise for the reader seemed like a good idea, considering that I'm posting this after 9PM - I pretty much did it anyway without saying as much.

This has nothing to do with the post, it about getting a tip-o-the-hat or maybe just a foot note. We just got your Christmas card and it was very nice. The picture of your wife and you up on a mountain was really great. Who took that picture? It wasn't you and it wasn't your wife, it must be some nameless person of no real significance. Enough said.

At this point, I could totally claim that I sent everyone a card with a picture of us that they took. Honestly, though, there are very few people who are actually allowed to touch my camera. You should consider yourself lucky!

There was no room on the card to put "Photo Compliments of Gruncle Willie, Burning Elmo Studios, and the Maine Tourism Board", so I omitted it and left people to gaze in wonder at the mysterious gloriousness of that photo.
